CNC Router

I lead a 4-person team to design a 2.5 axis CNC router for a mechanical engineering design class.

The project started with the selection of electrical and stock components such as stepper motors, spindle, lead screws, and linear rails. The remaining 20+ custom parts were modelled in SolidWorks, adhering to engineering design principles, and load and torque requirements determined through preliminary calculations. Engineering drawings for the assembly and its components were generated in SolidWorks per ISO specifications.

CNC router was designed in 1 month, and a 90% grade was achieved for the project.
